Bradley Barcola, the talented Paris Saint-Germain winger, spoke at a press conference on Monday, on the eve of the crucial Champions League match against Salzburg. He addressed various topics with calm and optimism.
Barcola aspires to regain its confidence
Asked about his recent decline in form, the Parisian striker said: “I can’t explain it, but it is necessary to regain confidence, to find what I was doing at the start of the season and everything will come back naturally.” Despite a promising start to the season, Barcola is currently going through a difficult period, without a decisive move in the last four matches. However, he remains determined to regain his best level and his previous physical condition.
PSG attackers face the efficiency crisis
Offensive sterility has been a hot topic of discussion around PSG lately, and Barcola has not escaped the questions. He explained that all attackers, including himself, are going through a period of uncertainty, stressing: “It is essential to regain this confidence and not doubt in front of goal.” It also highlights the importance of the collective: “We all have to play together, and if another player scores on Tuesday I will be delighted. I am aware of my responsibilities.” Barcola knows the onus to score falls largely on the attackers, and added: “We discuss it a lot among ourselves, we know we have this responsibility to score. We know that when we don’t take advantage of our chances, it’s our fault.”
A decisive duel against Salzburg
Paris Saint-Germain must win against Salzburg to preserve their chances of qualifying for the Champions League. Barcola is aware of this, the situation is delicate: “We know the situation is getting complicated. We need to win this game and our last three. We will do everything we can, without adding extra pressure on ourselves, but it’s now or never.” For him, the issue is clear: “There is no room for worry, we have to put ourselves under positive pressure and act together, like at the start of the season.”
Trust in Luis Enrique and his tactical approach
Referring to his coach, Luis Enrique, Barcola highlights the mutual trust between the players and the coach. “He’s our coach, he gives us instructions. He’s not oppressive, he’s behind us and encourages us a lot”, explains the Parisian winger. According to him, the Spanish coach gives them great freedom on the pitch, contrary to what some might think: “We have instructions, but what he encourages us the most is to have this freedom of movement and to take advantage of the spaces.”
In conclusion, Barcola shows total confidence in the team and the coach’s project: “I have real confidence in this team and in the coach. We know we are a good team. We know what we have to do and we work for these big games. We know what awaits us and we are going for it arrive.”
