« Déplacé, irrespectueux ! » L’énorme coup de gueule de Deschamps

Deschamps’ rant: Out of place and disrespectful!

The coach of the French national team expressed his dissatisfaction vigorously during his public speech on Thursday.

The mark of the past that persists

The wound is not yet closed. A little over a year ago, the French football team suffered a defeat in the final of the 2022 World Cup against Argentina, following a cruel penalty shootout (3-3 , 2-4 tabs). A scenario that is both frustrating and repetitive after the elimination in the round of 16 of Euro 2021 against Switzerland (3-3, 4-5 tab).

In this context, discussions concerning the preparation of the Blues for this specific exercise have multiplied. Even the National Technical Director, Hubert Fournier, did not spare the staff of the French team by recommending that they work more on penalty shootouts. A remark that did not please Didier Deschamps at all.

Deschamps’ firm reaction

” That bothers me. I find it inappropriate, and I would even say disrespectful, declared the coach of the Blues during a press conference this Thursday. This is not about me but about all the national coaches, goalkeepers, video analysts… These are competent individuals who prepare these sessions.

There is no problem, I make sure I understand, I rely on the DTN… Afterwards, it is well known that there can be bad intentions. But you need experience added Didier Deschamps. Being on the bench, managing, it’s crucial. The coaches of the national youth teams are on the bench. And I have respect“, concluded the coach.
